New year, new hair.

So recently I've been receiving quite a bit of queries regarding hair treatment!

Is it 'cause you guys can tell the difference in my hair. *shy*

So I am going to talk about a new hair treatment that I tried recently! But first up, some outfit pictures...

What I wore to do my hair. :)

This was after my hair was done! Besides the treatment, I also rebonded my hair as well as touched up my roots. The hairstylist was careful to not make my hair too straight, and he even taught me how to use a curling thong to lightly thong my ends in (my favorite hairstyle!)! He took all of 5 minutes to make my hair look like that with a curling thong. T__T

By the way, you girls have any good curling thong to recommend? My hairstylist used a Babyliss 38mm (tip: go for a big diameter to achieve natural, relaxed waves/curls!), so I am thinking of going for the same one, but if you girls have any other brands to recommend, that would be much appreciated! :)

I planned my outfit around my mom's new bag from Dubai! I am not the only who plans outfit around a certain featured item that I want to wear right...

Love the collar of my plaid blouse! Wore it with a vintage necklace with dried flower petals in a glass pendant.

These Zara pumps don't get too much wear, I don't know why... But they are quite comfy though! Can't say the same for most Zara shoes. *grim*

So anyway, for those of you have been asking, I went to 76 Style (Mt. Kiara branch), and I did an ion treatment which turned out to be the best hair treatment I have ever done! Thanks to Ringo's recommendation. :) It costs RM250 for my hair length/ thickness (and I've a lot of hair, mind you), and is recommended to be done on a monthly basis. So far, I am really satisfied with the results, my hair is the healthiest it has looked/ felt, I am definitely going to try doing it on a monthly basis! Will keep you girls updated! :)

Finally got off my butt to blog about the Nuffnang Asia Pacific Blog Awards (NAPBAS)!

It kind of felt like going to prom, discussing with fellow bloggers beforehand about what to wear, making make-up/ hair appointments, going for last-minute manicures... Even the venue of the awards was the same as my university ball a couple of years back-- Putrajaya Marriot! *pangs of melancholy*

With Bobo, whom I clicked with before we even officially met! We started with chatting on Twitter, then Whatsapp, then we started going out.. Just like the process of dating WTF.

There are boards with all the nominees' profiles. This one is for the Most Influential Blogger award, I think.

This time with Audrey. I have this other prettier picture of us which turned out a little blurry, so I settled for this one instead-- anyway, it depicts our sohai-ness better wtf.

The Grand Ballroom! Very overwhelming indeed, there were bloggers from Singapore, Hong Kong, Philippines, Thailand, Australia, China, Brunei, and obviously from Malaysia as well!

My favorite part of any event-- food!

HAHAHAHA Audrey had to sit at the VIP table with Tim (Nuffnang co-founder) and could not sit with the rest of the bloggers.

Everyone at my table perked up immediately once the beer arrived! That's Haze Long and Jin (from Hitz.fm) + partner.

Love how the nominees' details were displayed right before the winner was announced! This is for Best Lifestyle Blog. Btw the guy in the picture is Kenny Sia!

I was seated with some of the crème de la crème of M'sia blogsphere-- there's Kenny Sia, Joyce, KY (KY Speaks), Huai Bin (Sixth Seal), Jin and Suanie!

Dessert. Actually after this there was a platter of cookies, but by then everyone was scrambling to take pictures (bloggers will be bloggers), and I could only look at the cookies forlornly. T_T

All the nominees were invited onstage for a group shot!

Outfit details:

I actually bought a (short) dress for the event during my Korea trip recently; however as luck had it, I got a scar on my leg a few days before the event, and I decided I want to wear a long dress to hide the scar. And thus my quest for a perfect long dress started.

When I first laid eyes on this plum sequined dress, I was with with my boyfriend. Surprisingly enough, when he saw me try it on, he actually have his thumbs-up! Potentially, this dress is everything he will hate-- Full on sequins? Check. Plunging deep-V neckline? Check. Long maxi skirt? Check. But yet I had his approval? I knew then I have something special on my hands. ;)

Nonetheless I didn't want to spend so much on a dress, especially when I have already bought another dress intended for the occasion. But aah, I guess Lady Luck was smiling at me, 'cause on the same day that I was lamenting to my mom about the dress, she found a birthday voucher in the mail!

I guess you can guess the ending to this story. ;)

Wore it with a rabbit fur clutch to break the 'harshness' and monotony of all the sequined glory.

Black velvet block heels (needed super high heels as my dress was really long!) with gold trimmings to tie in nicely with the gold touches of my outfit.

Tokyo 2012: The Redemption.

So, I'm not sure many of you are aware of this, but our recent Tokyo trip is not the first time we have been to Tokyo. Our first trip was back in 2006 (during sakura season!), and whilst we had a lovely, lovely time, one of our biggest regret from the trip was that we were badly dressed during that trip!

It was difficult for me to find pictorial evidence of our dressing during our 2006 Tokyo trip (I've lost the pictures in my old laptop), but I managed to dig up a few pictures from my blog archives.

HAHAHAHHA look at how fat Brother Hoe was.

Generally my sisters and I take certain pride in dressing up, but during that trip, it was as if our fashion sense flew out of the window!

Ahem.

Anyway, my mom was really anal that we stayed warm and comfortable during the trip, so there was no questions about it-- windbreakers were the outerwear uniform, and sneakers were the only acceptable footwear.

I know it doesn't sound that bad, but trust me, if you have seen how the Japanese girls dress on a daily basis, you will understand why we felt like worms for most of our trip wtf.

So when we found out about the recent Tokyo trip, unanimously our first thought was: "YES! REDEMPTION TIME!" And we ignored our mom's pleas for us to wear sneakers (veto-ed), to wear puffy windbreakers (ignored), and bring thermal wear ("speak to the hand, mom!"), hehe.

Behold, almost 6 years later... REDEMPTION TIME!!!

As you can see, my mom was still with her windbreaker HAHAHAHAHA.

I reckoned we did okay! It is possible to still be stylish while you travel, and it's a skill that I only picked up in the last few years. And the best part is, we managed to stay warm and comfortable (disclaimer wtf: for most of the trip) so my mom had nothing to say! In fact, she said she want to steal a few pages out of our books on how to dress while traveling, haha.

As you can see, I always opt for red for CNY! Except for year 2009, whereby I decided to go for yellow since I thought it's considered as a prosperous color too... Guess what, that turned out to be one of the worst years of my life. -__- Call me superstitious, but after that, it's red and only red for me!

My favorite part of any travel escapade-- sharing my shopping loot. I am usually too lazy to get a proper shopping haul post up, but I am so happy with my buys in Tokyo that I MUST!

I was hopelessly in love with this pair of Miu Miu nude pumps a few seasons back (shown below), and was waiting for it to go on sale (as I do with everything that I buy wtf)-- I even told our resident SA in Miu Miu KLCC to call us the moment it goes on sale. But it was sold out everywhere before I could even spell out the word S-A-L-E fml.

I couldn't really get the image of a perfect pair of elegant ankle-strapped nude pumps out of my head... So my heart literally jumped out of my ribcage when I saw these babies:

Scalloped edges, ankle straps, chunky heel (I prefer chunkier heels as they are more stable/ comfortable), with removable bow shoe-clips...

And check out the exquisite laced-up heels! Love love love love love I cannot even begin to describe....

Most likely I will be wearing these shoes without the bow clips as they are a little too girlie for my taste. But LOVE LOVE LOVE I repeat! :P

Btw, most of Japanese shoes come with shoe clips-- ingenious!

Gloves are one of the most important tools to keeping warm (especially if you don't have pockets on your coat). Love this pair of pale pink gloves with its velvet and gold chainlinks and soft fur lining!

I didn't buy much clothes in Japan because clothes are really pricey (a dress going for RM500++ easily), and god knows I don't need more clothes in my bursting wardrobe wtf. But I could not resist this pair of delicate beaded lace shorts!

At a 60% discount muahahahaha. Another love-it-to-bits piece!

Damn happy that I finally got my Instax mini polaroid camera. T______T I've been wanting one for sometime, but no one got my hints wtf. It was going for about 30% cheaper in Japan (got it in duty-free at the airport), so I decided to take the matters into my own hands, heh.

Also got a pair of bright red skinny jeans from a Zara outlet store (we found 2 great outlet malls during this trip!). And yes, I've a red fetish. -_- But I think my penchant for red is justified because CNY is coming up wtf.

Dollywink eyeliners-- the best liquid eyeliner (to me)! My mom got me one from Hokaido 2 years ago, and I've been hooked ever since! I stocked up when I went to Hong Kong last year, but as I've finally ran out of them, my sole shopping target in Tokyo was actually Dollywink eyeliners. Managed to score the limited edition (in hot pink) one too! I bought 4, hopefully they will last me awhile. And hopefully they don't dry up. *dark*

Also showing things I got from a 100yen shop: a craft box that I am intending to use to stow away my jewelry when I travel (currently I just dump them in a plastic bag, which equals to a major tangled nightmare)-- it comes with partitions so you can customize the size of each compartment; and some cute travel-sized toiletry bottles for traveling as well.

Meet the new member to my bag family! I'm not really a huge fan of Balenciaga Motorcycle bags, so I never really thought I would own anything from Balenciaga. But this clutch is in such a perfect shade of bubblegum pink (I can't seem to capture its real color in picture, it looks purplish here?) and in a yummy ponyhair leather. Le sigh. LE SIGH.

That about wraps up all my buys from Tokyo! I went to Japan not expecting to buy anything at all (except for my Dollywink eyeliners), because I knew that everything in Japan is really expensive. But I guess finding two mega premium outlet malls helped! :P Not to mention we were there during the sales season so everything was super discounted. I honestly think that January is the best time to go to Tokyo/ Japan if you want to shop!

Am having fun dressing like a little furry yeti animal, trying different types of Japanese red bean desserts (I am somewhat a red bean fanatic), getting impressed with vending machines which dispense heated bottled drinks, vowing to learn how to put on false eyelashes after seeing all the gorgeous Japanese chicks...

We had quite an adventure today trying to locate a premium outlet out of Tokyo! Imagine a mall with the likes of Valentino, Moschino, Chloe, Marc Jacobs, Prada, Miu Miu, and the list goes on and on and on....

And I finally own my first Balenciaga item, yay! :P

My ex-colleagues used to joke that even when I was in SG my family in KL could still hear me WTF. And now, now I feel so pained and handicapped, because I have never experienced people not being able to hear me before! *fist choke*

I also tried to seek sympathy from my mom, who coldly told me that this is god's punishment to me for being too noisy usually. T______________________T

Since I can't talk, writing/ typing is the only way I can communicate wtf. So please enjoy my only mode of communication now wtf.

Christmas dinner outfit.

My only (official) Christmas dinner was a triple date dinner on Boxing Day. It ended with a 5-hour long karaoke session-- the final ending note was KRU songs, haha.

Since it's a Christmas dinner, I know I definitely want to look somewhat festive! But still something easy (and preferably loose 'cause I want to eat to my heart's content).

I reached out for one of my favorite pieces from AZORIAS-- a gold-tipped white shirt that I've been salivating after it took streetstyle blogs by a storm.

I knew I like the shirt, but I really, really LOVE it when I put it on! The shirt is so deceptively simple, but the simple gold engraved tips really has this incredible ability to make you look stylish and pulled-together without trying too hard. I dare to say so 'cause I saw outfit pictures of a few AZORIAS customers wearing this shirt, and they all look amazing!

I am definitely bringing it to Tokyo next week (did I mention, I am going to Japan for 1 week? :P)

Surprisingly (even to myself wtf), my outfit was some sort of anti-thesis to Christmas-- I kept it to strictly black and white, with hints of gold (that's my festive cheer!). Maybe it's because I went full-on red and green for actual Christmas Day itself.

How was your Christmas?

Mine was spent catching up with Jing (back from Aussie!)-- we yakked for more than 7 hours. Also met my best friend halfway through our lunch and we ended up joining tables and then we all yakked together, hehe.

I read this Christmas tweet on X'mas day and it went something like this: "This Xmas may you be in company of people you call family, whether the one you were born with or the one you made".

Halfway through the day the quote came into my head, and I smiled, 'cause I had both with me. :)

On the day of my return flight (which was yesterday), it was snowing quite heavily, so much so that our Korean friend (who fetched us to the airport, at 4am, bless his kind soul) commented that the flight may be cancelled. And I was thinking inwardly, nooooooo I wanna go home! I don't want to be stuck with snow and a -5 degrees weather. T___T

But all my worries were for nothing, because I AM HOME! :D

I had a pretty glorious first-day-back-home after being away for 2 weeks. Had a much-needed 12-hour-long sleep-- although I did wake up every 2 hours. This is because I rarely slept during my last week in Korea, and my body just doesn't know when and how to rest anymore. -_- And a yummy seafood lunch that is really too sinful for lunch. And birthday cake after that! Cake is always good, mmm. Shopped around a bit, and found a dress that I may want to wear for the Nuffnang awards this Friday-- even the boy approved of the dress. But I forlornly put it back on the racks because it was out of my budget. And came home to find that my mom is a member of the boutique and she has a 25% discount voucher for her birthday this month! :D :D :D

Went to Bubba Gump for the first time, and OD-ed on prawns for the second time today, and had the boyfriend laughed at me as I watched a little too intently at the sex scene in the Forrest Gump movie that was playing in the background. I haven't watched Forrest Gump before, can you believe it? But my friend has enlightened me with his version of the popular Forrest Gump quote: "Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know when you will get a piece of shit" WTFFFF

I also received my first Christmas present today! Something small from Teeny, just a souvenier from her trip to Singapore recently, but yayyy! Went to 2 different malls and got more blasts of Christmas cheer. I LOVE Christmas decorations, and always look forward to seeing what the different X'mas deco in different malls. I can tick KLCC and the Curve off my list at the moment, and am most looking forward to seeing Midvalley's and Pavilion's! Which mall's X'mas display is your favorite this year? :P

It's snowing in Korea today!

I have seen snow before, but it was yonks ago... And the first wave of snow is always the prettiest! As light as feathers, and vanishing into the air the moment it hits the pavement...

I was having a silly grin on my face, and it took all my willpower to not try to catch a snowflake on my tongue. :P

It's the last day of my trip today! Two weeks literally came and went in a blink of an eye. A really intense 2 weeks, but a really productive trip it is. The direction of where we are heading to is becoming clearer, and I can't wait to get home for a brainstorming session with the partners.

In less than 24 hours I will be boarding the plane home, and I really, really can't wait to go home to the boyfriend (poor boy was admitted into the hospital whilst I was away.. T____T)! Plenty of exciting, happy things happening in the next 2 months, and I will be updating you guys very soon (hint: holidays!)!

Underwater.

Am in a really cheery mood now, after sipping on a mug of hot mocha whilst listening to Christmas songs. Ultimate bliss. There isn't anything that coffee cannot make better! Or cupcakes. Or ice cream. Or chocolate chip cookies. I am getting carried away here, but you get my drift.

Am feeling very inspired from this trip, which is a major 'yay' moment from me. For some reason, lately I just seemed to have lost the zest for dressing up, and have also started hating everything in my wardrobe. -_- I tend to always rewear the same things because it just seems easier to reach for the first thing on my shelf, and on most days I feel like a pale version of the old me (dressing-wise). Dressing myself seems more like a chore than an enjoyment like it used to be.

I guess we all go through phases like that.. Right? What about you girls? :)

The good thing is, that phase has came to end for me, I *think*! My brain is constant filled to the brim with styling ideas, and every Tumblr image that I come across ignites a little ball of excitement in the pit of my tummy... Next post I will blog about the stuff I bought during this trip, okay? :P

Since I am talking about personal style and clothes, it only seems apt to make this an outfit post! Wearing one of my favorite blouses ever, with a stunning digital print that is part underwater mystic, part reptilian magic.

It was a sudden revelation last night (and oh, what a cold night it was!) in Seoul, while sipping piping hot soup from a paper cup at a truck selling snack food-- that I am so thankful that I get to experience something like that.

And you know how thoughts are, one thought tumbles into another, and before I knew it, I have a series of things that I think I ought to be grateful for. It's a few days too late for Thanksgiving, but I really want to list down a few things that I should give thanks for. :)

1. Two days before I left for Korea, there was a sudden announcement from my parents that we were going out for steak. Steak is always reserved for special occasions (half of my family does not take beef, and generally I fall into that group wtf), so I was pestering my folks suspiciously for the reason of the dinner. Turns out that my mom remembered that I was craving for steak (ONE careless, offhand remark, by the way), and she knows that I usually don't eat well when I am away in Korea because the working hours are just crazy-- so she initiated the dinner to make me one happy, stuffed camper before I fly off. :')

2. My dad suggested to me recently that I should consider importing from Japan as well for AZORIAS. Let's not focus on the viability of this option, but what I only hear was, not only do I have the acceptance of my dad for what I am doing, but the encouragement as well. And that, to me, is a fucking amazing thing.

3. Chicken Carbonara sandwich. Even the name makes your mouth waters, doesn't it? Had it last night, and it was everything I wanted it to be, and then more.

4. Back to where it started. I am so so grateful for the incredible Koreans we've met, absolutely the most hospitable people ever. Because of them, I have had the most wonderful experiences in Korea, such as chewing on alive octopus with squiggly squirming tentacles; having my fortune told; eating the most delicious Korean food, some even fit for a king (literally); taking Korea's version of bullet train, the KTX; gobbling a fresh, burning hot fish-shaped pastry straight off your bare hands (no paperbag or plate whatsoever) because it keeps you warm during winter; sitting in extremely luxurious limited edition Hyundai cars,dining at the same restaurant as Rain... This are all amazing experiences, which a normal tourist would not have access to... And they are mine; my own unique experiences and memories that I can stow away to savor. :)

5. That being said, I am thankful for my boyfriend, one of the kindest man out there, always eager to lend a helping hand. It is because of him that the Koreans always go an extra step for us. So people, take note, there is such thing as good karma, so always always be kind and humble! And for you folks who have a lot of hate within and did a lot unspoken evil (whether big or small), good luck to you.

6. AZORIAS is turning 6 months old in 1 day's time. :') Has it been 6 months?? Where has all the time gone to??? This deserves a post on its own, which I promise I will do!!

Someone commented on my blog recently that I blow my own trumpet on my blog. -_- But if talking about rewards that I've achieved through my sheer hardwork (whether it's a pair of shoes or a hard-earned compliment from someone) or counting my blessings are considered 'blowing my own trumpet', then I am sorry. There's nothing to be ashamed with being grateful for what I have and being open about it. Especially when I worked damn hard for it. And goddammit, I am beyond thankful for every single thing in my life. I've come a long way since my quarter-life crisis, and I've learned to never, ever take anything for granted.

I used to read Diana Rikasari's blog religiously, but since I've started working on AZORIAS, I haven't really had the luxury to surf and pour through a lot of my favorite blogs, and I think it has easily been months since I last read her blog.

However, 2 nights ago, I had a window of free time while waiting for the boyfriend, and I opened her carefree, crazy blog, and found a couple of things that I can really relate to, and I thought I would share them here. :)

One Sunday morning, January 6th, 2008 I was attending religious services when my cell phone vibrated. As discreetly as possible, I checked the phone and noticed that my phone said "Caller ID unknown". I choose to ignore.

After services, as I was walking to my car with my family, I checked my cell phone messages. The message left was from Steve Jobs. "Vic, can you call me at home? I have something urgent to discuss" it said.

Before I even reached my car, I called Steve Jobs back. I was responsible for all mobile applications at Google, and in that role, had regular dealings with Steve. It was one of the perks of the job.

"Hey Steve - this is Vic", I said. "I'm sorry I didn't answer your call earlier. I was in religious services, and the caller ID said unknown, so I didn't pick up".

Steve laughed. He said, "Vic, unless the Caller ID said 'GOD', you should never pick up during services".

I laughed nervously. After all, while it was customary for Steve to call during the week upset about something, it was unusual for him to call me on Sunday and ask me to call his home. I wondered what was so important?

"So Vic, we have an urgent issue, one that I need addressed right away. I've already assigned someone from my team to help you, and I hope you can fix this tomorrow" said Steve.

"I've been looking at the Google logo on the iPhone and I'm not happy with the icon. The second O in Google doesn't have the right yellow gradient. It's just wrong and I'm going to have Greg fix it tomorrow. Is that okay with you?"

Of course this was okay with me. A few minutes later on that Sunday I received an email from Steve with the subject "Icon Ambulance". The email directed me to work with Greg Christie to fix the icon.
Since I was 11 years old and fell in love with an Apple II, I have dozens of stories to tell about Apple products. They have been a part of my life for decades. Even when I worked for 15 years for Bill Gates at Microsoft, I had a huge admiration for Steve and what Apple had produced.

But in the end, when I think about leadership, passion and attention to detail, I think back to the call I received from Steve Jobs on a Sunday morning in January. It was a lesson I'll never forget. CEOs should care about details. Even shades of yellow. On a Sunday.

I feel really, really guilty because I really haven't been blogging properly! Work has been crazy, and the only blog posts that I can squeeze a bit of time to do are those that I have committed to earlier on... Heck, I haven't had time/mood to take outfit pictures, so I don't even have anything to blog about. T_T

That being said, I feel extremely blessed this week because I get to do some really new things that I never ever thought I would have the chance to. Fine, I've thought about it, but to actually have the opportunity.. Words fail to describe how privileged I feel. :) Can't wait to show/ tell you guys more about them!

Another one of the reasons for the mad schedule this week is because... I am flying off to Korea again this weekend. This time for 2 weeks, and frankly speaking, I am scared shit because of 2 reasons: 1. 2 weeks is an awfully long time for a business trip; 2. it's friggin' winter in Korea now. Word has it that on the day I arrive, the temperature is -7 degrees. -_______________-

WHAT AM I GOING TO DO!! My wardrobe is not made for anything below zero degrees! Heck, my body isn't made for such harsh cold weather. -__-

I am sure you all remember my raving review of my Samsung Galaxy Tab right?

My Nuffnang story.

I can't remember when my Nuffnang story started... Because it seems that as long as I've been blogging, I've been with Nuffnang.

I first heard of Nuffnang when Teeny was the only one in the Hoe family who blogs. I found the idea of getting paid when people click on a banner in your blog both absurd and enticing at the same time. I didn't pay much attention to Nuffnang then, simply because I didn't blog.

Nonetheless, when I subsequently did started blogging in Australia, it was a very natural process then to sign up for Nuffnang. My involvement with Nuffnang when I was studying in Melbourne was minimal, in a way. The banner clicks do work though, and you can see the money payable to yourself growing slowly. It was kind of fun, because it's like a receiving a bonus doing something that you already enjoy doing anyway.

After I graduated, I came back to Malaysia. And I found myself attending one of the biggest Nuffnang events then! The Nuffnang Pajama Party:

Everyone was dressed to the T according to the theme, and we didn't feel the least bit out of place! :P

I also got to do a lot of cool reviews/ advertorials, for example reviewing beauty product s, trying out the Samsung Galaxy tab and subsequently loved it so much that I bought it (and 'cause we were invited to the launch I got it for the media price, woohoo!), and doing shopping-related advertorials where we are basically... instructed to shop wtf. Nuffnang also arranged for me to to share a bit of my life story, my style and how AZORIAS came about here, to share and and inspire young people. :')

I remember discussing with Audrey before-- if you are a blogger, by default you are a Nuffnang blogger. That's how big Nuffnang's influence is. I cannot imagine blogging without Nuffnang, because I am sure my blogging process/ story would be a lot lackluster. I don't know what is in store for me in terms of blogging/ Nuffnang, but one thing is for sure, I am looking forward to growing with you, Nuffnang.

I am really super excited about this event, because correct me if I am wrong, but I think Leftblock was the first ever junkyard sale that I participated in-- And I enjoyed it SO SO SO much. The energy was awesome, the crowd was awesome, the loot was awesome, the food was awesome (it was held at Fat Spoon the last time). Have been bugging Joyce to do it as soon as possible, but back then she promised me to do it in May... And lookie, it's November now. -__- It's almost 1 year since the last Leftblock sale, so I suggest you to not miss out on this one!

I promise you all a lot of goodies okay. I even told the boyfriend to leave me alone tomorrow night so that I have time to pack more stuff for you all-- now that's sincerity! Hehe.

My first ever overseas trip.

Sometimes I look at my brother, and think how lucky he is. He took a plane for the first time when he was only 5 years old! It was a family trip to China, and when we asked him what does he remember from he trip, he answered: “The games in the plane are very nice” WTF.
Lesson: Never bring young kids on trips ‘cause they don’t remember anything from it.

Many of you think that I am very well-traveled, but actually, the first time I have ever traveled out of the country was when I was 16 years old—to New Zealand! It was a sudden, impromptu trip, because there was a good deal from Reliance (remember back in the olden days whereby we follow tours?), and my dad wanted to treat my grandma to a trip to NZ as her sister (i.e. my grand-aunt) stays there. My mom was instructed to accompany my grandma as my dad had no leave, and being a smart man—to prevent any mother-daughter in law drama-- my dad asked me to go along on the trip as well!

I was so excited—I got to take 1 week off school, it was my first long haul flight, my first time out of the country, my first time in a Western country, my first time experiencing winter; and I didn’t know what to expect. Back then, my only impression of New Zealand is a scene of 1 million cows in a Fernleaf commercial WTF. But jokes aside, it is true that in New Zealand, I created some really beautiful memories, so much so that most of the pictures displayed in my room are actually pictures from my NZ trip years ago!

Warming my hands in front of a fireplace in a ski lodge. A FIREPLACE!! With real fire and logs! I used to only read about fire place in books and Christmas songs wtf.

And yes, I went skiing for the first time in NZ!

At Lake Taupo, with snow-topped mountains as the background. The view is so magnificent and beautiful that it literally leaves you breathless.

Having experienced New Zealand in the winter, I think it would be amazing to experience the beautiful country in summer! My trip 10 years ago (omg, how time flies!) was spent with a tour group, and while the group was made up of really fun people, I also remember spending a lot of time in the bus traveling from North (Auckland) to South (Christchurch). This time around, not only do I want to have an authentic NZ summer experience, I would also like to travel the country on a free and easy style (instead of following tours)—which is made easy by really informative sites like this one.

Everything you’ve ever heard about how beautiful the country is true, I can attest to that.

Rotorua geysers. I still remember the day I visited Rotorua, it was 2 degrees. T_T So it will definitely be awesome to visit the place on a sunny summer day!

Maori tribe—it’s a custom for them to rub noses with you when you first meet.

It was absolutely PRICELESS to see my grandma got down the bus, and was grabbed by a tall, dark, half-naked man to rub noses against each other HAHAHAHAHAHA.

Besides visiting places that I’ve already been to (to experience the ‘Summer’ version of the enchanting views), I would also like to try some new things! Like Bungee jumping, hehe. I didn’t get to try during my trip back then, ‘cause I’ve a history of wheezing and my mom was afraid I will get a heart attack if I bungee-jumped. -_- Also, I heard that there a lot of music festivals running at the end of the year—which I am most excited to be a part of! And lazing on a secluded beach to watch the sunset, bonfires blazing amidst a backdrop of magnificent mountains... I can’t wait already!

Air Asia X flies directly to Christchurch from Kuala Lumpur, so it’s really easy to plan a trip now. At MPH today, the boyfriend told me to pick any Lonely Planet guide book I want to determine our next holiday destination, so that we could work towards it... Maybe it’s time to get a New Zealand one. ;)

Wow, it's been 5 days since I last blogged! November really caught me off-guard, with back-to-back events, and a business trip scheduled at the end of the month. As opposed to the belief that everything slows down towards the end of the year, it's kind of happening the opposite way for me...

But I am not complaining!

I am going to let you on into a secret of mine. This year has been amazing for me. My dream came true, everything has been wonderful, and I cannot be happier. But some small superstitious part of me is worried that everything will change with the new year! Like how luck/ wheels of fortune will change and all that shiznit. But I flipped through Lillian Too's Feng Shui book for 2012 in Popular that day (it's not only me that enjoys flipping through books in bookstores right?), and apparently things will go smoothly for me next year too!
The superstitious part of me is now pacified, hehe.

And if all else fails, hard work brings along wonderful things too. :)

If anything, I am more excited than ever to see what next year as in store for me! Never thought I will look forward to getting old WTF.

Being a huge fan of American’s Next Top Model (ANTM), I was really excited for the All-Star cycle! Is any one of you following the cycle? Did you see the episode which aired recently, whereby the challenge was for the contestants to create their own perfume? The perfume that they created must adhere to their ‘branding’, and what they stand for.

And it really got me thinking... if I create a perfume for myself, what are the words I want it to be associated with? Off the top of my head, I thought of the words “Rainbow” (what my name means in Chinese, and also, I’ve been told that I bring color into people’s lives *touched*), “Confident” (brinking on arrogance WTF; just kidding! I’ve been told that I am the most confident person someone has ever known though), “Loud” (my description in my highschool yearbook is “Loudspeaker” T_T), and “Outspoken”.

I am sure over the years of reading my blog, you can sort of gather that I am a somewhat confident person. Case in point, a classic video of me not being afraid to be silly:

I guess I am just very comfortable in my own skin, and I know my own strengths very well. Knowing how to laugh at myself helps too!

As for “Colorful”, besides the fact that I have a penchant for bright colors...

... the fact that I’m not afraid to be silly and have a sense of humor makes my personality ‘colorful’!

As for being “Loud”, that is a genetic trait wtf. My ex-colleagues in Singapore Whatsapp me sometimes to tell me that they can hear my voice in Singapore. -________________________-

Today, however, I would like to talk more about the ‘Outspoken’ Hui Wen, a more less-known side of me. Truth is, I am one of the more outspoken person that I know—though sometimes that might not necessarily be a good thing. -_- I am a very frank and outright person, and if I have an opinion, I WILL let you know about it. Some people might call it ‘blunt’, but I prefer to call it ‘un-fake’? :P This is a personality trait that I am very proud of, because I think many people are afraid to speak their mind, or they put up fronts to mask how they feel. For me, it’s always a case of ‘what you see is what you get’. Though, of course, working in a corporate environment has smoothed my rough edges a little—I will still tell you how I feel, but I will dish it in a more delicate manner. ;)

And I really like the new, intensified version of the “Outspoken” perfume. Remember in my previous post, I mentioned my boyfriend commented that I look very sullen and cold when I am working? It’s definitely largely due to my intense nature. Yes, besides the aforementioned words, “Intense” or “Extreme” would describe myself very well. :P I am a person of extremities-- I work hard, I love hard, I play hard, I live hard. An example of my extreme nature—often, you will hear me describe that I LOVE something or I HATE it—there is no middle ground for me. Moderation (and thus mediocrity) is for the boring! I guess it’s due to my intense character that I’ve worked very, very hard all my life, and landed me at a pretty good place now. :)

I never thought I would say this, but one of my fundamental wardrobe staples is a white tee! (this is coming from someone who use to dress up in frills and ruffles, and hates the idea of a T-shirt).

My current favorite is one with cut-out shoulders-- it adds a bit of a twist to the simple ol' white tee. Been wearing a lot, too much in fact:

A disgusting dinner consisting purely of innards, UGHHHH!! Because we randomly chose a restaurant with the most people, and found out that they only serve beef after we got a table (the boyfriend doesn't take beef). The most amazing karaoke EVER. It's designed like a open-front dollhouse, and it appears to be catered to only girls! Due to the open concept, we could see the girls singing and wringing in their respective rooms, and wow, are they a wild bunch. So wild that I have to cover the boyfriend's eyes and hurriedly lead him away HAHAHA.

I actually went to bed already, but I just couldn't fall asleep.

And it suddenly hit me, the solution that I need.

What I really need to do, and want to do, is to go on a soul-searching trip. No work, no worries. Not alone though. What I need to bring with me is a team of my closest friends. I even have the namelist carved out in my head.

The trip will be filled with heart-to-heart talks... Talks about my dreams, my fears, my hopes, my insecurities... It will all be about re-discovering myself.

Why the sudden revelation?

I haven't been feeling like myself... Somehow, I feel like I lost a bit of my sparkle. Does that make sense? Did I even used to sparkle? Do I know why? Maybe I do. But I don't know. I am alone with my thoughts, with no one to talk to. Sad, isn't it? But everyone is so busy with their own lives, so fixated with their own course, that I feel bad to ask for a bit of time.. to talk. To listen.

Back to the people that I want to bring along with the trip... Half of them are in Australia, I just realized. What does this mean? Do I go to Australia for said trip? Will they have time for me? Will anyone have time for me? But these people, these people in my list... They are people who are good for me. They are the people who are partly responsible for making me who I am today.. Or at least reminding me of who I was. Or am I still that person?

Some days I feel like I am at the bottom of the well, wanting to scream for attention but my efforts are futile. Some days, I even joked to myself with the idea of checking into a shrink just so that I have someone to talk to.

I need someone to talk to.. But is it anyone that will do?

I don't know. These days, it seems that there a lot of things that I don't know.

But the illustration is so cute, isn't it! Just keep your eyes peeled open in Korea, there're always amazingly cute details that will make you cluck your tongue appreciatively, and go "Those Korean ar..."

You actually write your details (name and number of people) on the glass door here, and the waiter will call for you once your table is ready. For you people who have been asking about my boyfriend, his name is on the glass door! But in Korean. Don't say I am keeping things from you guys WTF.

I love the ruffled pleat details on these brogues! Got them in an emergency during my trip in Korea because I walked too much and the shoes I was wearing were really getting too uncomfortable. But no regrets!

Our dish cooked right in front of us. So delicious, and the best part is-- so healthy as well! Korean food really tickles my fancy because they are almost 95% of the time spicy-- and I love spicy food. :D

An interesting revelation made known to me recently-- according to my boyfriend, when I work, I have a 'fierce' or 'mean' face.

HOW CAN! I am like one of the most cheerful people around; not to mention, my ex-colleagues have never mentioned anything of this sort to me! (in fact, my retard partner has announced before that he could never imagine me being angry or fierce -__-)

Under an invitation from Bizzybody, I recently had to honor of interviewing Winnie Loo, founder of A Cut Above:

Since you are perceived as a hair guru, is there any hairstyle, in your opinion, which suits all women?

Well, there is a certain look that is actually actually suitable for many ages, many faces. But it depends on whether the person can accept it. I always think a short hairstyle suits all ages. If you really look at it, some young Hong Kong stars look so good [with short hair]; even some older celebrities like Sharon Stone, look so good as well. Short hair is vibrant; it's young, it's chic. It's just that many M'sian women are in love with long hair, they think "oh, my husband or my boyfriend loves long hair". Personally, I have short hair! In 10 minutes, Vincent (the hairstylist working on Winnie) is going to make look like I have long hair, like I have an updo. I can travel with ease, I don't have to worry about split ends, dry hair. I personally will recommend a short, chic style for all ages.

Do you think M'sian women are more confident today, as compared to, say, 20 years ago?

Yes! Especially in the last 10 years or so, you can see M'sian women are more well-traveled; there are more good magazines, keeping them in-trend, they know what's happening on the scene. I think traveling gives a lot of confidence to people to pick up things, to absorb. By being seen and going places, you're able to see many things.

When we say women are confident now, what sort of changes are we referring to these days?

Ladies these days are more game on, apart from clothing sense, and hairstyles.. and make up, I think it's also career-wise. A lot of ladies now are more professional, compared to 20 years ago, where a lot of women are too comfortable, they will get married, and even those who were trained, will get stuck and end up being housewives. But today, there are a lot of professional girls who learnt to juggle. Like for me. I've never stopped working since Day 1. I got married about 27 years ago, and my husband told me, "You've a career, you shouldn't stop working, you should just do what you do best!", which is important.

Was it ever difficult for you to juggle? 'Cause there're so many things on your plate!

Oh yes. For me, my life is quite fancy. I've a chance to be the hairstylist for the Borneo royalty, I've traveled so much! Even if it's not just for real work, I do have chances to go overseas to pick up classes, which I do a lot, so it's really not easy. I've always loved what I do, that helps. Because sometimes when you're passionate about what you do, you tend to don't mind to sacrifice. I was trying to lead a balanced life, but I still tried to put my career into it, so I am always rushing. But I am not complaining, I am quite happy with that! As for the kids, I spend quality time with them, that's very important, because I've less time with the family. I always say, quality is more important than quantity.

Can you share with us, how do you stay motivated?

Being in the business for so long, I find every reason, and every avenue to push myself, to push my boundaries. When I was coming out as a M'sian [hair]stylist, I worked very hard to become famous. But is that enough? I think in life if that's enough, you get very complacent and just lie in a comfort zone and you might not be able to break another level. So what I always do is when every opportunity knocks on my window, I never say no. I never close the door, I always explore.

Winnie, have you tried the Bizzybody treatments so far?

In the beauty and fashion industry, you can never stop improving and increasing your awareness. It's really sad that M'sia has so little opportunities. Speaking of hair and beauty, we are definitely not far behind in terms of technique, but we need the opportunities.

Do you have any advise for budding entrepreneurs, considering that you have established this empire for yourself?

Definitely, I will encourage anyone who's in my kind of business, or any type of business, to not give up so easily. In any industry, it's tough to begin with. And once you make it, stay humble. There's no such thing as 'making it', because in any career when you say you made it, and you stay in a comfort zone, it's the beginning of a downfall. Never say you're good enough because in any competitive industry, no one can be a superstar if they do nothing to breakthrough to another level.

One last question! Can you share with us, THE ultimate hair tip? From your expert experience!

In today's busy lifestyle, there're actually a lot of good products in the salon for people to think about. Many people have not heard about the Brazilian Keratin treatment. Out of the country, of course. And by a strange sort of luck, Teeny is coming with me!

So far:

1. I left my contact lens case at home-- and bought the cutest lens case ever. Can't wait to show you all a picture!
2. Found out that the guy who sat next to us in the plane is staying at the exact same hotel as us. What a crazy coincidence.
3. Cushioned toilet seat in the hotel bathroom. Very strange to go 'pffffttttt' as you sink into the seat.
4. I shall not start on the hot pink scalloped toilet cover.
5. Really looking forward to dressing up in Korea. I managed to limit myself to only packing 2 pairs of shoes (including the ones that I was wearing) and one handbag.But I brought 4 jackets and 2 cardigans, haha. My beautiful outerwear deserve a chance to be flaunted!
6. My supplier treating us bottles of orange juice, just because. :)
7. Free facial mask on top of a free facial mask in a Korean beauty shop. Only in Korea.
8. I am dragging Teeny to the Hello Kitty cafe soon, I don't care!
9. I wanted to buy a gold spiked leather necklace, but Teeny veto-ed it based on the reasoning that it's too 'fierce' for Malaysia. I got a tiny spiked ring instead. Too cute.
10. Just when I thought I have seen everything, I saw tops with a watertap print. -_- Again, only in Korea!

I was really caught up with my work today when I received a call from a Singaporean number. Preoccupied, and also slightly suspicious, I answered the phone standoffishly.

Turns out the call is from a super chirpy lady from CPA Australia, telling me that I have won some sort of Excellence award! And that they are inviting me to the award in Singapore next week.

Unfortunately I can't make it to Singapore as I will be out of country again next week. But my ears perked up when the lady on the other end of the line mentioned something about "... cheque payable to you".

Woohoo, prize money! In SGD, no less. :P

I've been lusting over a pleated leather skirt from ZARA last season, but I couldn't justify paying RM200++ for it. Hallelujah then that I found a similar one in Korea for less than half of the price!

I've seriously been wearing flats a lot nowadays. In fact, nowadays, I choose to buy flats over heels! ~~which is why I bought 7 pair of flats from my recent trip to Korea~~

Tory Burch jelly flats, which I bought with the intention of them being travel-shoes. Waterproof shoes are a blessing for rainy seasons.

Since my dog was such a hit in the previous post, it shall make a cameo appearance today as well wtf.

Bag for the day. Actually, I use this bag almost everyday for work-- it's huge-ass so I can dump everything in (tablet, wallet, organizer, somedays even clothes) and goes with almost all outfits.

Coincidentally, all my accessories for the day are from F21.

A & E ward.

I had a really dramatic evening last night.

It ended with me in the A&E ward-- just to sustain your interest first wtf.

Armed with my organizer and my tablet, I was all ready for a meeting for AZORIAS. While driving to the meeting place, I felt a slight itch on the lower lashline of my left eye. A mild irritation, but nothing that I gave much thought to. Within minutes, I developed a slight cough too, and but all I thought to myself was, shucks, don't tell me that I am going to fall sick, and pushed it out of my mind.

Upon reaching the meeting, the itch worsened. When I checked my reflection in my compact mirror, there was a small swell which I wrote off as an insect bite. But as the meeting went on, I found it harder and harder to concentrate as I could literally feel my eye swell up. The skin around felt tight and taut, and I was having trouble seeing already. Shoot, I knew it was an allergy then and there. I called up my dad, and he told me to KIV on my condition, and that if it worsen, I would have to go to the hospital. To control my condition, I popped an anti-histamine pill (I always carry such pills with me as I have a sinus problem). However, in another few minutes, even my other eyes started swelling. And that's when I panicked. I had an allergy attack when I was 10 years old, and I ended up in the hospital for 1 night, with my head swelled up like a pig head and having difficulties breathing (as the allergy caused my respiratory system to swell too). I called my dad, and he said, "Not good. Go home now, and I will bring you to the hospital".

I was sent home by my partner, and then fetched to the hospital by my dad. By the way, he told me in the car that he had a lot of wine to drink and that he might have difficult injecting me (he's a doctor for those of you who are uninformed). -____________- And he asked me to not be scared, I just need to turn my head away. -_______________-

Long story short, I was brought into the A & E ward (thanking my lucky stars that I didn't see any gory things in there), and a male nurse injected me (I got two jabs T_T). I am also under medication for the next 2 days to keep the allergens at bay. Medication that makes me very drowsy. :(

By the way, if you are wondering what I was allergic to, I don't know either. :/ I suspect it could be mentaiko as that was the last meal I had... But then again, I have had mentaiko before and was okay.

I told my friend about mentaiko and he was like, "what is that, it sounds like a Japanese porn star". -__________-

Today's post is going to be all about a practical and comfortable outfit! My version, of course.

I styled a photoshoot for AZORIAS recently, and as our shoots generally take 10 hours (straight), comfort was very high on my priority list!

Here's what I wore:

I wore sweat shorts! How much more comfortable can I get. :P

I've been on the lookout for a black backpack for ages, and finally fell in love with this one in Korea. Love the oversized grosgrain ribbon that adds an unexpected twist to the otherwise rugged knapsack!

I kept my accessories very fabric-friendly-- you may notice that they are all rounded/ elastic. Being surrounded by delicate materials all the time, I can't afford to accidentally have my jewelry snag the clothes!

Another recent Korea buy. That reminds me, I still owe you guys my haul video!

Before Chinese New Year early this year, my mom cleared her old working clothes and left tied up bags of tailored clothing outside her room. Eager for some 'thrifting' in the comforts of my own home, I brought all the bags into my room, and started some major rummaging. I used to watch my mom get ready for work, and sometimes she even lets me pick her outfit the day. Going through the clothes brought back so many memories! And the craziest thing is, I could actually remember most of the clothing.

And wow, women in the past wore really fancy and extravagant clothes to work! My mom had pearl encrusted blazers and loads of heavily embellished outerwear. They were brinking on gaudy, but I did find this beautiful vest (which I wore as a top below), and two pairs of amazing tailored wide-legged pants, Teeny found herself a sleek jacket which resembles a Stella McCartney SS11 one.

Here I wore the vest as a top with black ripped shorts. The vest features the prettiest rose buttons!

Decided to keep the color of the most of my accessories to the same (white) family:

Was in the mood for a simple and comfy outfit...

Found this necklace in a bag of accessories Teeny want to sell at bazaars-- why does she want to sell this! It's gorgeous. I sneaked it to my room (along with the entire bag, haha), and decided I want to wear it on the day itself.

The entire outfit was concocted based on the necklace.

I found the charger for my DSLR! So happy to have quality pictures again-- there's really a difference between DSLR pictures and normal compact camera images, do you agree?

I was wearing this velvet bow belt, which buckles to the back. I decided to turn things round a bit, and buckled it to the front, and left a little surprise at the back-- the pretty velvet bow!

There’s nothing like an ice cold beer... for everything.

I used to hate beer with a vengeance, because of a subconscious fear that I will end up looking like Homer Simpson ...

... with a big beer belly.

But after I started work, I really learnt to appreciate a good beer. Whether it’s sneaking off during work for a cold beer with a colleague, or retiring to an old-fashioned pub for a round of beers with the entire department, a good beer is a great relief. Especially for those nights that we worked through the night, my favorite colleagues and I will march down to the pub right opposite our office to chug down some beer before heading back to work—we always joke that our job efficiency is the highest after a beer.

Being a huge fan of Heineken beer ever since, I’ve been keeping tabs on some of the activity on the Heineken Facebook fanpage recently:

A couple of weeks ago, I was invited to the Prudential's "R U READY" launch at Laundry.

Busco, playing the project's theme song "R U Ready", which is currently making waves on national radio (I'm very very very sure you would have heard of the song before!).

When Busco came out, I was like "EH EH EH I know the lead singer!!" and went totally teenybopper. I met Samuel at a Halloween party a few years ago, and he was the one who started calling me "Rainbow Eyes". When I went to get this autograph, he remembered me! As Rainbow Eyes wtf.

This week was the most welcomed break for me (as I am sure it is for everyone)-- catching up on lost sleep and spending time with loved ones. I even managed to squeeze in a walk in the park!

This is my lazy, 'dressed-down' outfit. I love my heels collection to death, but sometimes a girl needs to stride through life in her trustworthy flats. :P

Whilst I pretty much wear whatever I want, considering the nature of my job now; I do need to tailor my outfits according to the occasion.

I am kind of emo-ing about the pants-- I got it one size too big, and it looks like a tent on me. Woe is me.

And it's kind of nice to be using my Louis Vuitton Alma recently again! It's actually my graduation present from my parents, but has been shelved for quite awhile because it didn't really go with my daily outfits. But I recently realized that it's such a classic bag that it actually does pull together a lot of outfits! Plus, it's a great bag to bring for business events.

One more sleep till I am home! Oh, I can't wait. First thing I am gonna do is to arrange for a manicure appointment. My nails are chipped, cracked and broken. No, fashion is not glamorous. I would like a massage too, but I got my period, dang. Thirdly, a hair revamp! I caught myself in the mirror yesterday and decided that I hate my hair.

One day, I woke up and felt like being a gothic ballerina. So into the office I went like this:

You may notice a sudden incorporation of flats into my outfits-- I've this paranoia of my knees giving away. T_T I blame it on incorrect posture during Bodypump classes, but I seriously feel like I've 'weak knees' now, so I am trying to lay off heels for the moment.

Am into arm accessories recently! Or arm party, as coined by the hilarious Man Repeller. One lonely night, I made an impulsive decision-- and spent a fortune on ASOS wtf on accessories ONLY. But there's extra 10% off on sale stuff! *defensive* Scored myself the likes of House of Harlow, Juicy Couture, Disney Couture, CC Skye, to name a few. In fact, my package should reach M'sia the same day as I do! *blissful smile*

End of my quest.

Remember in this post I mentioned that I am on a quest to look younger?

It all started one night. "Baby, got lar, you've aged..." He pats my head and pulls me close. I gave my boyfriend who has known me for almost a decade a mock punch, and jokingly told him that OF COURSE I looked older now considering the number of years we have known each other! But deep inside, I was very perturbed. I don't want to look older! I don't want wrinkles and saggy skin. So that night itself I made a decision. That I am going to work real hard to attain, or at least, maintain youthful skin.

I told Teeny of my determination to preserve my youth, and of course this is a subject close to her heart. Being the tallest amongs us sisters, standing at about 5’8, Teeny often gets mistaken as the eldest (she is in fact the youngest of us three) and being older than her actual age. So we started devising a full-on strategy on ways to maintain youth, including food (anti-oxidants for the win, e.g. berries), exercise (I heard yoga and meditation is good, and my grandfather swears by Qi Gong), and of course, basic daily rituals such as sleeping early, drink lots of water etc....while at the same time try to maintain my whitening needs.

But to preserve youthful skin, we also need external assistance! I’ve scouted the market, but there are not many anti-aging beauty products created for women in their 20s. Most anti-aging products are catered for women above 30 years old, and I am afraid that they might be too rich for me.

Hence, when Olay sent me the Total Effects 7-in-One day cream to review, I could not help but feel the timing was perfect. Olay is no stranger to me. It is a brand that even my grandma used to use when she was a young woman herself. Today, my grandma is 82 years old, and I reckon she looks around 60-ish. Could it be the Olay (total) effects? Highly likely.

But Olay is quick to adapt to the times, as now Olay Total Effects understands that modern women want to be both fair and youthful looking. So they devised the newest Total Effects, a good fit for young modern women.

So into my beauty regime the Total Effects cream went.

To document how effective the cream is, I took a ‘before’ picture of my skin sans make-up. The comparison shall also serve as evidence for me to blackmail my grandma for a bigger angpao next year in the event that the product doesn’t work.

No make-up!

As you can see, I’ve enlarged pores and an uneven skin tone—signs of aging mentioned here. Also, one of my skin concerns is the acne marks left from my adult acne attack about 2 years ago. And you can’t see it from the picture, but my skin is really dry.

Enters the Olay Total Effects.

I use a dollop a day every morning. As I’ve oily skin, I usually stay away from creams and opt for gel-based moisturisers (yes, I’ve oily and dry skin, what a field trip); but the Olay Total Effects cream is very lightweight and non-greasy so I reckon it’s suitable for me (and anyone with oily skin) as well.

I usually squeeze slightly a more-than-necessary amount for my face so that I can apply the excess onto my neck! Never forget the neck people, your neck is the biggest tell-tale sign of your age!

After 2 weeks of using the product:

As you can see, overall my skintone has evened out, and my pores have become finer. Even my acne marks seemed more faint!

So far, I am loving the way my skin has changed after using the product. Although it’s only been 2 weeks, the difference on my skin is quite remarkable. So with no further ado, I hereby announced, my quest has officially ended with Olay Total Effects. I am hoping that with continued use, I can really achieve what I set out to do—which is to maintain youthful skin while remaining fair as well.

Why I bought the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1.

I bought the new Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 last Friday!

So I thought it'd be fun to come up with reasons for why I got it. Other than the reasons mentioned in my video here, here are 7 more reasons (one for each day of the week, heh):

1. Chilling out

I get to chill out and not be bored (and still look cool wtf). Due to my sometimes hectic and ad-hoc schedule, I often find that I need to eat out alone. What I usually do is I bring a magazine out-- but with the tab which is so light and sleek, I can easily carry it around and whip it out anytime!

This is especially true when I am in Korea now-- I am alone, and to pass time during meal-times and in the train, I play with my Tab!

2. Business meetings

One of the main reasons why I decided I need a tablet in my life. I meet so many people who ask me about AZORIAS, and I've no means of showing them our website in full glory (let's face it, seeing the website on Blackberry doesn't have the same oomph). Also, more importantly, it's extremely useful to bring out for my business meetings! Whether it is to run through files or to take notes, the tab is a godsend.

3. Makeshift camera

Picture taken at my mom's best friend's son's birthday dinner (boy, that's a mouthful!). I didn't bring my camera, so the tab was used instead. Picture is blurry because all the aunties are hyperactive and cannot stay still for a picture. -_-

4. Making videos

5. Polaris Office

Teeny was given the task to revamp our kitchen, so we had to adhere to the budget while shopping in Ikea. Here we are, compiling a list of all the things we need.

One of the most important reason why the Galaxy appealed to me is because they have Polaris Office, an application to read/ edit Microsoft files easily. It's of utmost importance that I can handle Word and Excel documents easily because I deal with tonnes of them on a daily basis.

6. Video calls

The boyfriend is a little sad that I didn't get the iPad, 'cause then we could Facetime each other; but oh well, there's always Skype!

The Tab is even lighter than my camera (the Canon S95, I am not even talking about my DSLR), so sometimes I prefer to only bring out the Tab-- it does the job of taking outfit pictures equally well!

For those of you who wonder how tall I am..... T__T

And one more bonus reason for why I bought the Tab, which incidentally is also the deal-clincher for me-- the accessories.

1. The Tab has a USB port, which means you can plug it into your computer easily, or even plug in a mouse or a printer! :O

2. You can also buy a SD card reader for the Tab-- which means I can transfer pictures from my camera into the Tab!! This is really useful because when I travel I don't want to bring my laptop, but if I bring a normal tablet, there's no way I can transfer my pictures into the tablet (to blog). With this function, I can now survive on my Tab alone! :P

3. Coolest Tab sleeve ever

You can opt to get this tablet cover which comes with a built-in keyboard!! :O :O :O Which means I can use my tablet as a laptop (or netbook). This REALLY appeals to me because whilst a tablet is useful, I find that it cannot replace a laptop, especially in terms of typing. This stems from a phobia from my last trip to Korea where I was supposed to do an advertorial, but as my laptop died, I had to fully rely on the boyfriend's iPad (which I borrowed for the trip), and get this-- it took me 5 hours to do up an advertorial when it will usually take me at most 2 hours. -_____________- Typing a long article on a touchpad is no joke, I am telling you. But with this feature, I can plug in my mouse (remember the USB port!), and start typing away!

Too awesome.

There's a story behind this pair of colored jeans! I've always wanted a pair, but I knew it's a passing trend; not to mention, I am not really a pants person. So I could never fork out the money for a pair. Then during my Melbourne trip last December, the place was so super freezing despite it being summer (I only packed cropped tops and shorts FML), that I was forced to look for jeans... And TADA, I found this pair of colored skinnies for AUD9.95 (which is less than RM30)-- SCORE!

PPS: I was thinking of what to name this entry.. and was thinking something along the lines of 'Colored bottoms', with reference to the jeans, and the ~~crappy~~ associative part of mine thought of 'I R Baboon', and you know, baboon> monkey> ape.. Arm candy for the day.

This is what I wore for my first day to the office! Looks like I will be wearing a lot of flats, 'cause there's always a lot of running/ moving around to do. Am thinking of putting a nice pair of flats in the office too, so that for days that I wear heels, I can still wear flats in the office.

Is it totally superficial that one of the things that I look forward to in having an office is that I get to dress up on a daily basis! T_T Oh, and that I get to decorate my workdesk. *beams*

YES, I've never had my own workstation before! Being an auditor means that I was always out at clients' place, so we don't get designated workdesks in the office.

I was feeling like I was going to fall sick for the past few days, y'know-- achy muscles, sorethroat, heat behind eyelids (am I the only one who gets this?), runny nose.. It'll be hella funny to see me try to ask the locals "where is the clinic" in Korean. -_-

But oddly enough, after having only 5 hours of sleep for 2 days consecutively, I feel better now! My body works in a funny way.

Going international.

For any accounting student, the word ‘internationalism’ brings about loud snores. In your 3rd year accounting subjects, internationalization will refer to harmonization and convergence of various accounting standards in different countries… which is about as interesting as watching mold grow on bread.

But as I grow older, I realized just how inspiring internationalism is. Internationalism is the exact reason why my dad insisted on sending every single one of us overseas to study—because he wanted us to have an international degree that can enable us to move to any part of the world. I studied in Melbourne, and it was some of the happiest times of my life.

That’s where I met my Flat Hair Flat, i.e. my flat mates (we got the name ‘cause we all had straightened hair at that time, haha).

I got the freedom to do whatever I want, including exploring some of my interests:

I took up jewelry-making classes in Melbourne, which is something my parents would not be too keen on.

And best of all, I had some wonderful experiences that are truly unique to me… or at least to people who studied in Australia.

Picnics (specifically a hat party picnic).

This is not a wedding, but rather, one of the crazy dorm parties that are held about every other week.

And because of my inquisitive and curious nature, I chose to work in Singapore after I graduated. I was hungry for knowledge and experience, and I knew that international experience would be valuable for my professional growth. Internationalism opens doors, creates opportunities. In Singapore, I grew even more as a person, and I brought with me a lot of beautiful memories when I finally packed my bags to go back to KL.

This was a picture taken of my first day of work! My family came down to Singapore with me. :)

And because of the grueling work experience in Singapore, I came to appreciate what life has to offer even more—and has sort of embraced a ‘live in the moment’ philosophy. For that reason, I grasp any opportunities to travel, as much as I can.

I find that traveling and being overseas for the past few years have really opened my eyes and mind, in more ways that I can mention. I still fantasize about going to New York Univesity in the near future to study a Masters degree, and sometimes the boy and I talk about moving to Korea… I don’t restrict myself to anything, and for me, that's the beauty of internationalism: the world is opened up to you, and anything is possible.

But specifically after Azorias is born, internationalism becomes something truly exciting to me.

When people pat me on my back and tell me that they can’t wait to see go Azorias go international. When we send Azorias packages to countries like New Zealand and Norway, beyond our usual customers from Australia and Singapore. When people related our website and products to the likes of ASOS and Zara. When I met one of the Koreans who have helped us so much in our business in Korea recently, and saw the pride and excitement in his eyes when I told him we have visitors from all over the world, including Peru, Macao, Finland, Romania, and even Zimbabwe and Botswana!

Heineken’s focus on internationalism has inspired me to start thinking of myself and how all these international experiences have shaped and molded me. Remember the Art of Pouring event that I wrote about here? Heineken has truly made it international… a beer which you can consume in any part of the world. Not only that, Heineken’s newest campaign has the slogan ‘Open your world”, which I can totally relate to! Today, I am very open to different cultures and embracing all the possibilities life has to offer. So take a page out of Heineken’s book-- step out of your comfort zone and be a man of the world with confidence and open mindedness! :)

We still have a long way to go, but that’s the beauty of internationalism! The world is opened up to you, and anything is possible. :)

I reckon I was a pretty cute kid when I was young…

I had slightly crooked teeth (but hey, it is charming in its own way), slightly small eyes that seemed bigger on little Hui Wen’s face than adult Hui Wen’s face, an adorable bob, and a shy smile for you if I like you.
So yea, overall quite a cute kid.

And then IT happened.

It happened so gradually that I didn’t even realize it… Started from me not really being able to see certain words on the blackboard, to having to really strain my eyes to read… to finally having to always move to the front to read anything on the blackboard. Friends asked me whether it’s time for glasses, and I brushed them off. Spectacles??? Me??? Yucks.

Until one day, it was time for the annual eye-check in school—where government nurses come over and make you read the letter ‘E’ in varying placements and sizes. And I could only read the largest ‘E’ on top of the chart. :O

By then, it was too late. My shortsightedness was already quite severe then (repercussion of being in denial that I needed glasses, and hence squinted and strained my eyes a lot); and before I knew it, I had spectacles perched on my nose. I was 12 that year.

Puberty happened soon after.

I put on weight (relatives called me chubby; friends called me plump; and boys called me fat), I had zits, and whoopdedoo, I had ugly black wire rim glasses which I hated with a vengeance.

I looked like that:

Round wire rim glasses (this was before Harry Potter was cool ok, so making it… NOT cool wtf). Check.
Bad teeth. Check.
Ugly mushroom hair (and what is that few strands of fringe doing on my forehead??!!!). Check.
Slightly overweight. Check.

I truly looked the worst in my entire life at that stage. T__________T To think that I was already wearing my favorite lilac tank top and pearl barrette in this picture. Can you imagine when I was not dressed up wtf.

I was 14 then.

And then, miraculously, when I was 15, my mom allowed me to get contact lens! And that’s when the evolution of Hui Wen truly began.

Tada! No more spectacles. (And if you look closely, you might be able to see my clear braces)

At 16, I got my braces.
At 17, I straightened my hair.
At 18, I started putting on concealer and blusher.
At 19, I was introduced to eyeliner.

And now, I look like that:

I honestly believe that getting contact lens jumpstarted the metamorphosis of me-- from an ugly duckling to an okay-looking swan (I wanted to say ‘fit bird’, which is defined as ‘A remarkably attractive young woman; i.e. skinny, long-legged, well-dressed, and potentially a high fashion model’ on Urban Dictionary; but I shall refrain, HEHE). Just by wearing contact lens, I felt much more confident, and it then happened very naturally—I started to take more and more steps to make myself look and feel better.

This is such a cliched line, but I feel like such a bad blogger! Blogging is seriously the last thing on my mind most of the time, and other than sponsored posts which come with a deadline, I find it really difficult to take time out to blog. It's just that there seems to be constantly an avalanche of work, and I'm trying to cope with it.

Actually, I not only feel like a bad blogger, I feel like a really bad friend too. :( My best friend messaged me that she needs drinks + advise, and I had to tell her, "sorry babe, I've new arrivals at the store tomorrow, another day can ar?" Another one of my best friends is seeing a new guy who is finally treating her right, and she wants someone to dissect with her every single line he muttered during their dates-- and I'm like "dear, I am busy now, call me later, okay?"

Gosh, typing this out is already making me feel worse.

Anyway, I am having some people to help me out soon at AZORIAS! Really excited, but more on that another time. ;)

Anyway, I have been feeling really unfit lately because I haven't been to the gym since a month before AZORIAS launched. Which has been.. at least 3 months. -__- And I have been eating a lot! But I was checking myself out in the mirror after dinner, and I realised that despite my self-indulgent lifestyle, I was actually... okay-looking! At least I am not a lump of blubber wtf.

So I squeezed my biceps and asked the boyfriend, "For someone who eats as much as I do, I am pretty thin right!"
He didn't even look up (he was shopping online for dress shirts -________-) and answered absent-mindedly, "mmffff, yea". FML.

But anyway, that's no excuse for not exercising! Time to get fit.
Also, I am supposed to go to Port Dickson this weekend. Get bikini-ready in 5 days? Hah! I will let you know how that goes.

Personally, I think that my bag collection is pretty complete… with the likes of Marc Jacob, Chanel, Miu Miu, Louis Vuitton, Celine, to name a few; and they range over a healthy spectrum of colors too: from classic black and (impossible-to-maintain) ivory, to more unique colors such as baby blue and red.

Dancing Fish.

The highlight of my week is that there's a new printer in my household.
Yippee.

Lunch at the 'dancing fish' place (little did I know that it's really the name of the place) that my mom has been raving about for yonks.

I was really pleased with the restaurant the moment I stepped in... Chic, simplistic interior, silent but efficient staff... Until my sister accidentally spilled the Indonesian snack (above), and the waiter used his hands to pick up all the pieces and put it back into the bowl for us to eat. -__- I mean, fine, you don't want to serve us a new bowl of chips, but do you have to use your bare hands to pick them up??

The sambal was awesome though.

Nonetheless, nice place, great food. Wouldn't go there unless someone else is paying though, nyehehe.

My laptop crashed again.

It got taken over by some rogue anti-virus program (people, if you ever see an antivirus program called Security Protection warning you that you have a gazillion viruses on your computer, DO NOT BE CHEATED), which just keeps telling me that I have to purchase the antivirus program-- and it stops me from opening any form of executable programs including Mozilla Firefox/ Internet Explorer and even Task Manager.

My computer is my lifeline. If my computer doesn't work, how am I going to work!!????

Anyway, long story cut short, I reformatted my laptop today, and everything is reset to factory settings. Le sigh.

By the way, besides my laptop, I also kena virus.
Having a flu today. Meh.

Am not in a mood to blog properly, but I am going to be kind and let you guys have something fun to read!

I am really, really happy to find this amazing contributor for AZORIAS-- I've admired her writing for many many years, and to be able to work with her on writing projects now is just really awesome. I am on a roll... Another outfit post!

But this time it's a little different, it's a picture I stole off Tongue in Chic. It was taken during the Old Blossom Box bazaar in mid-June, whereby I totally forgot to snap pics, so this will have to suffice!

I've a really funny story to share about this skirt! When I stepped into Old Blossom Box to set up our display on the event's morning, everyone was like talking about the skirt-- no kidding. And for the whole day I got comments like 'lawa giler' and 'cantiknyaaaa' about the skirt! Even when I met Joyce the Kinky Blue Fairy, the first thing she said to me was 'nice skirt' before 'hello'. -_- Which kinda surprised me, 'cause I thought the skirt would be too loud for a lot of people! And of course, everyone was disappointed when they learned that the skirt isn't available in this color in AZORIAS then. But what took the cake was when Baby told me that I MUST stock this skirt-- and curtly informed me to not bother to come back to Malaysia without the skirt WTF. Hahaha.

Well, with such stern orders, I have no choice but to come back with the skirt from my recent purchasing trip. And something I feel like I haven't done in ages... Outfit post!

My last proper outfit post was 2 weeks ago. -_-

I think shorts are the most comfortable things to wear in our weather! I love dresses too (easy to pull on, fuss-free...) but as I am kind of a tomboy, shorts/pants are the best bet for me so that I won't get caught for indecent exposure.

Hence, ripped/unfinished denim shorts are sort of my wardrobe staple, and I've got tons of them: by far my favorite pair from Korea which I wear almost all the time (*click*), Zara ones in a darker wash (*click*), a recent pair that I thrifted (*click*), old high waisted ones from Miss Selfridge (*click*), loose Cotton On ones which comes as a close 2nd favorite (*click*), fancier ones with chain link details (*click*)... And these are just some off the top of my head.

I love denim shorts to bits, but I want to expand more shorts collections so that I can create more versatile looks! And specifically I had formal shorts in mind-- tailored shorts, soft skorts (shorts that look like skirts) etc. Which is why I love this pair of pleated chiffon shorts to death! It's super soft and comfy, and I love the neutral shade, 'cause just like my denim shorts, I can match them with anything I want. And similarly, it can be dressed up and down with a snap of my fingers! I've seen a couple of versions of this shorts: Jaspal, Baci, Bangkok, Topshop... I think Topshop comes closest to our Azorias version in terms of quality. I was aghast to find that most versions of this shorts use like ugly black elastic trimmings instead of black grosgrain ribbon trimmings. :/

Does this graph looks familiar to you?

Erm, don't worry if it doesn't, 'cause I drew it from memory WTF.

It actually depicts a woman's general physical being throughout the years! And as you can see, from 25 years old onwards, our body and skin starts to deteriorate. I've read this in numerous literature before-- so it's true girls, after 25, everything goes downhill. Skin ages, boobs sag, memory worsens, and the list goes on. T_T

Now, I know this for a fact. And knowledge is power right? You would expect me to start gnawing on ginseng and furiously slab anti-aging products onto my face by now. However, since my adult acne breakout almost 2 years ago (which I've gotten under control by going on the dreaded Roaccutane), my face has been left with faint acne marks-- so my main skin concern is skin-whitening in order for the marks to be lightened.

You can see that I have faint marks on my face from my acne breakout.

I would have remained happy-go-lucky about my skin until I recently saw some people I used to work with in audit! Now, before I go on, you have to listen to this common joke in audit-- that women who work in audit will depreciate in 2 years. And that people who worked a few years in audit looked world of a difference from the picture in their staff ID (taken when they first entered the company). And gulp, it's true! These people look quite haggard and aged despite being in their 20s only.

Just for the record, I was in audit for 2++ years, and I could also see a difference in my skin. :( Even the boy cheekily told me that I've aged since Day 1 that he has known me. But I gave him a big smack, 'cause after almost a decade, it's a given that I will look (slightly?) older right! *in denial*

But the meeting with those colleagues and the conversation with the boy really made me assess my skin closely...

I do feel that my skin a few years ago looked more 'plump' and young! :(

I also saw an interesting survey/statistic that day:

If based on these statistics, it means I have to start using anti-ageing products NOW NOW NOW! Or stand to regret in my 30s. And interestingly enough, at 25.7 years old, it's when we start to notice certain changes in our skin, such as skin dryness, dark spots, prominent pores, skin dullness, rough texture, uneven skin tone or fine lines and wrinkles.

It's true then, I am suffering from some of the first signs of aging: skin dryness and prominent pores! And whilst I do not have any dark spots (also one of the most common skin changes experienced by women in their 20s); a skin analysis that I did last year revealed to me that I do have melanin build-up under my skin-- and if I do not take proper care of my skin, they will turn into pigmentation!!!

And it doesn't help that I am always doing funny faces:

Which means I will wrinkle faster FML.

Almost every girl I know wants to have fairer skin, so they always focus on whitening products. In fact, most girls I know have the misconception that they only need to start on anti-ageing products when they are in their 30s, or at least when they see their first wrinkle. But by the time you see your first wrinkle, IT IS TOO LATE! :O :O :O So it seems that when we are in our 20s, skin-whitening should not be our only agenda, but we should also begin a proper anti-ageing regime!

I am really worried now, because as illustrated in the survey, I should be using some super power anti-ageing products RIGHT NOW. I've decided, I am going to be on a quest to find the best anti-ageing products.

Because I want to at least remain looking like this:

I’ve mentioned numerous times that as I grow older, quality becomes increasingly important to me. Well, guess what. I am not the only one! Heineken, synonymous to unmistakable quality that has been enjoyed throughout the world since 1873, has recently developed ‘The Art of Pouring’ programme to reflect its promise of quality. With a tagline “The only reason for ordering a second beer is the quality of the first one!”, the programme promises consumers nothing but the perfect pint of Heineken every single time!

Last Thursday, Malaysia’s first ‘ The Art of Pouring’ workshop was conducted , whereby Franck Evers, Heineken’s Beer Craftsman from Netherlands, showcased the art of pouring a perfect Heineken pint.

I know, I know, Franck Evers looks a little like a mad scientist in the picture, but that is only because he is chasing ultimate perfection in each pint of beer that he pours!

A little background on Franck Evers:

Franck found his true calling when he met Mr. Freddy Heineken (grandson of Heineken’s founder) about 15 years ago—which is to practise the art of pouring beer. Since then, he has been travelling the world-- training bar staffs and beer drinkers around the world on pouring and serving the perfect Heineken pint.

Hence, the workshop provided a rare opportunity for beer enthusiasts and bartenders to witness the true master working his magic!

During the workshop, Franck also talked about the four essential steps that go into pouring a perfect pint of beer, which I found really interesting! I don’t care, I am going to share them here—too many a drinking session have I had friends who poured beer wrongly, leaving me a glass filled with foam. -__-

Not that foam is bad! Some interesting facts and mythbusters I learnt that night is that the foam is actually a very important part of your beer. A lot of people always complain about their beer having too much foam, but the foam serves as a protective barrier to keep the quality of your beer intact!

The 4 steps to getting the perfect beers:
1. Rinse- Rinse the glass in cold water before serving.
And never dry with a towel as it leaves fibres behind!

2. Pour- Pull the beer tap in one quick motion. Let the build-up of carbon dioxide escape, control the flow of the beer and then let it spiral into the glass which is tilted at 45-degree angle. Then close tap in a quick motion when the foam reaches the top of the glass!

3. Skim- Remove excess foam with a wet skimmer (held at a 45-degree angle)-- this leaves a thin layer of water over the foam which protects it from oxidizing.
A perfect two-finger thick head of foam ensures that the beer stays fresh and cold for longer keeping it from going flat!

4. Serve- Serve quickly with a smile!

The way Franck poured the beers, he made it seem so easy! But via demonstrations from members of the audience, there was obviously a lot of effort and practice that goes into the Art of Pouring. Did you know that the standard of perfect foam is that the level of the foam rests on the shoulders of the Red Star?

The workshop is just the start of an exciting new campaign, ‘Be a Man of the World’. With this new campaign, Heineken aims to bring a world of opportunities its consumers, a world where anything is possible through its promise of quality, internationalism and innovation. To be honest, I can’t wait to see see what Heineken has up its sleeves. Like they say, open your mind to the world of Heineken where anything is possible!

Unfortunately, I've probably failed every fashionista by wearing cheap ass Cotton On flip flops for the longest time ever.

A trip down memory lane.

I know.

I haven't been blogging much.

As you all *should* know, my laptop crashed in Korea.

So I am borrowing Teeny's mac now, and for some reason, her laptop doesn't read my external hard disk, nor does it have a SD card slot-- that means I can't upload pictures. T_T So presumably, no new pictures till I go get a card reader this weekend k?

Anyway, not having access to my documents (pictures or otherwise) is proving to be very very inconvenient! For example, to do up an upcoming advertorial, I had to go through all my blog archives to find pictures. -__-

BUT!

Whilst I was going through my older entries, I found some interesting reads!

I know what I am going to say is totally not right, but when I read it, I was like FUIYOHHH why was my writing so good WTF. I seriously felt a little teary reading the entry k! Each word, each emotion was so cleverly strung together...

I guess I am a great writer when I am emo, haha.

And another very enlightening read... I would even call it an eye-opener for myself. *CLICK * ('New year 1 2 3')

This was an entry written on the last day of 2008. Ironically we are already more than halfway into 2011. Almost 3 years. And it's really quite intriguing to look back into how I felt then, and how much I could still relate.

In No.1, I brought up my fear of Teeny and Jing leaving for Australia. Well, they have both left already... and one (Teeny) is even back for good now. Currently, they are both away (for Teeny, only temporarily), and sometimes I do feel lonely at home. But I deal with it by busying myself with activities. The hardest thing is always saying goodbye when sending them off. The stinging behind the eyes, the choked-up feeling in the throat... that never changes. But somehow we have all managed with our long distance relationship. :)

In No.2, I wrote this:

I can't say that 2008 was a 100% happy year-- largely due to my work. Surprise surprise, I don't love what I do. But, on the bright side of things, I got to know myself better. I always thought that with my materialistic tendencies and my penchant for finer things in life, I am one to sacrifice my passions/beliefs just to rake in more moolah. But I found out that that is not true. It turns out that I am simpler than I thought. :) And because of this newfound knowledge of myself, I am empowered to make some changes in my life. Maybe not in the near near future, I am too practical for that. But god, give me courage to step out of my comfort zone.

Reading this excerpt made me smile. It's true, I hated what I did even when I first started doing it (the entry was written when I have worked for exactly 6 months). But what I didn't realise then was that I've already decided that I don't need truckloads of money or riches to be happy... and that in some unexplainable way, something inside me was already changing to find the courage to pursue something that I love. I prayed for courage to step out of my comfort zone; and look at where I am today. :)

In No.3, I listed some resolutions for 2009. Let's revisit them:

1. I need to eat well, sleep well, exercise well. Since I have started work, heck, since I started uni for that matter, my lifestyle has taken a serious shift for the worse. I sleep at 3-4am, wake up around noon or even later sometimes. I eat fast food way too often for my own good. I have stopped exercising since I came to Singapore. I don't eat enough fruits. I don't moisturise enough. I just don't do enough. And that needs to stop. 'Cause I am my biggest asset, I am the machine that I am, and if I don't take care of myself, no one will. :)

God damn it, 2 years++ plus later, and my resolution remains unachieved. -_- At the beginning of this year, I was still doing okay-- living with Teeny who is a fitness craze forced me to eat healthily and go to the gym frequently. But once AZORIAS was launched, uh oh, there goes my 'normal' lifestyle. Now that we are slowly overcoming the learning curve, I hope to regain some normalcy in my lifestyle.. I MUST!

Just watch me, next week I am going back to the gym.*determined face*

2. My wellbeing also has to do with my social side. I have to admit, I have become quite the recluse lately. Especially with my work piling up... sleep and me-time just seems so much more appealing. I must make a conscious effort in my existing friendships, and also in forming new ones. Age is making me lazy when it comes to making new friends-- 'cause I know almost instantaneously whether I can click with a certain person. But what I don't know is that sometimes my judgement can be wrong! So bad hui wen, must change that. I used to be a much better friend, what has happened to that, sigh.

I think I am doing okay for this one... No doubt, sometimes I am really busy and have no time to meet up with some friends, but I can honestly say I try! And I don't just hang out with my best friend who can see me in a ratty tatty tee and not bat an eyelid; but I am actually taking the effort to meet people-- both new and old friends alike. Am also finding myself attending a lot more social events, even attending them alone-- whereas in the past I would actually be quite uncomfortable to be alone in such social settings.

Another way to up a level for this resolution-- manage my time efficiency, so that I have even more time for my social life!

3. I need to do more things that I love. And I don't mean shopping, haha. I used to love making crafts and just getting my hands dirty, what has happened to that. I just need to be more aware and conscious of myself, if that makes any sense. I don't really know how to put it into words, it's quite abstract. :)

Everyday I am doing something I love. Enough said. :)

4. This is sort of a no-brainer, but I need to shop less! This whole year has just been one massive shopping ride, and I think it's time I say stop. The boyfriend went into my room that day, and he told me that if his mom saw my room, she would never ever let him marry me wtf. And he told me that when we get married, he is only going to let me own 500 clothing items at any one point. Which is why I am looking for a new boyfriend WTF. Jokes aside, I still love clothes and all things beautiful, but I need to be more cautious that's all. Just a little bit more control. :)

Achieved! Sort of. Excluding some AZORIAS items that I keep a piece for myself and shopping in Korea (my resistance level is very low in that country wtf), I honestly don't shop much. Not even once a month? But I am no angel though, I do confess that I've bought a few bags since the entry. :( But at least they are quality buys, as compared to me buying loads of disposable crap that I only wear once. That's basically what I ask myself now when I shop-- how many times will I wear this? Which is why I buy more expensive things-- but I get way more wears out of them now.

5. Be happy. This one is quite personal, like point 3. It's not that I am not happy now or anything.. But I need to find back that inner peace and just that omnipresent happiness radiating inside of me... I used to have that, but work has made me an angsty person. And I don't like that. I am born to be a happy person, and to make people around me happy, and I musn't let that change. :)

Reading this made me kind of... sad. I always tell people that I wasn't happy in Singapore, but reading this made me realise that my unhappiness actually started way way earlier than I remembered (don't forget, the entry was written when I was 6 months into living in SG). How did I live being so unhappy for so long? I don't really know. But I am happy to tell you all now that I think I found that old Hui Wen inside me. That inner peace and omnipresent happiness pulsating in me that I was talking about... I think I've got it again. :)

Last year, at said event, there was Katy Perry, and the sassy Wonder Girls from Korea... I was dying to see Katy Perry perform live!

I've had a supremely FML situation over here-- let's just call it the king of FMLs.

I brought over my laptop 'cause there's work to be done, and guess what, my laptop crashed. -_-

Kaput. Goodbye my love.

Leaving me with no choice but to get a new laptop. Got myself a Dell (well,technically someone at home helped me to order it online, since I've limited Internet access here)-- something no frills and simple, and within my measly budget. Hopefully the laptop will be sent to home by the time I arrive back in KL...

Ok that's all for today, just wanted you all to know that I am not dead. And, I guess I'm feeling a little homesick.
